Alison Whateley SWaC

Alison is a mixed-media textile artist whose work spans both representational and abstract forms. Her practice is deeply inspired by the beauty, textures and ever-changing qualities of the natural world.. A self-taught artist, she discovered her passion for textile art in her late forties and has since worked on developing and refining her skills.   In 2025, Alison was elected as an Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, recognising her ongoing commitment to her artistic practice. 

Born and raised in Devon, Alison now works from her studio just outside Exeter. This dedicated space has given her the freedom to explore and expand her artistic practice, incorporating a variety of additional media to enrich and enhance her work.
