Meet David Norman!

Meet David Norman, one of our cherished Sienna Art Group artists who traded blueprints for watercolours!
Originally an architect (dad's idea of a "proper job"), David worked at the Dartington Hall Trust and as a London design director before taking a fine art degree at 40. Now back in his native Devon, his architectural background shines through in his atmospheric watercolours.
Inside the studio David tells us...
"I can never be bothered to clean my palette, or brushes, or change the water, and that's when I do the best paintings."* "I always listen to music. Neil Young inspires the best work."
"I have a hare called Hercules who watches over what I do but never makes any comment (see photo)."
"I am brilliant at spoiling paintings just when they are looking good."
"My greatest achievement is that I am still producing anything at all at my age."
"I'm good at making mistakes and then making it look like it was intentional."
With collections worldwide and two published books on watercolour techniques, David's journey shows that sometimes the scenic route leads to the most beautiful destinations.
