Curious

Curious (Sphynx cat, Fine art giclée print)

Original artwork, A2

The Sphynx has nothing to hide behind. Without fur, every fold and line of her skin is on show, and that is exactly what drew me to her. She sits quietly, head tilted, studying you with that steady, sideways look that cats do so well. Not quite trusting, but far too interested to look away.

Her body is covered in tattoos, each one a story. A peony blooms across her chest, waves curl around her shoulder, a clipper ship sails along her side and a small skull sits on her leg, hinting at a few close calls along the way. The dragon on her shoulder is a nod to my earlier piece, Dragon Heart. Together they read like a record of a life fully lived, perhaps several of them.

Curious is a celebration of the instinct that keeps us exploring, questioning and leaning in, even when it might be safer not to. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but I like to think she has a few lives left.

Curious is available as an original charcoal drawing and as a fine art giclée print, printed to archival standards on heavyweight fine art paper.
